Bank finds fishing try in drop box

OAKHURST — Two bags with a string attached were discovered inside a bank’s deposit drop box in Oakhurst early this week.

According to Yosemite Bank, someone tried to steal money bags from a bank’s night deposit drop box using a string sometime between July 5 and Monday morning.

A patch with a string attached was found affixed to the bags. It appears the string broke during the fishing expedition. However it is not known at this time if the suspect was able to reel in any cash, according to Madera County Sheriff’s spokeswoman Erica Stuart.

“To be sure, anyone who made a deposit at this Branch sometime between July 5 and July 8th should check their accounts to verify that deposits have posted,” Stuart said...
