Bail reduction denied again for woman charged with attempted murder

A Madera County Superior Court judge denied a third request to reduce bail for a woman charged with the attempted murder of her ex-fiancé.

Leanne Ballard, 33, was arrested Sept. 4 after allegedly stabbing Robin Gallegos, 32, in the back, wrist, and head and then trying to run him over with a car when he ran from her behind the Lowe’s on Schnoor Avenue in Madera.

Her bail is set at $1 million, according to traditional bail schedule for such charges.

Public defender Craig Collins, who was appointed to the case after Ballard dismissed private defense attorney Frank Butler, asked Judge Eric Wyatt to reduce bail to $100,000...
