Babies share special Leap Day birthdays

At least two babies beat the odds and decided to make their debut on leap day at Madera Community Hospital on Wednesday.

The chances of being born on leap day are about 1 in 1,500.

Because Feb. 29 gets added to the calendar once every four years, the two baby girls won’t see their true birth date again until they’re 4, leaving their families to decide whether to celebrate their births on Feb. 28 or March 1 during normal years.
