KINGS CANYON NATIONAL PARK (AP) — Fresno County sheriff’s rescue crews are searching for a man who failed to return from a planned hike in Kings Canyon National Park.
Sheriff’s officials began looking for 33-year-old Gregory Hein on Thursday, when his family reported him missing. Deputy Christian Curtice says the Clovis resident and experienced hiker was supposed to return home Monday from a backpacking trip to Mount Goddard.
His car was found at a store near a lake, but Curtice says there is no record of his using the ferry to cross the lake to get to the trailhead.
He also has not been seen at any of the camp areas around the lake. Hein was reported to have been wearing either green or brown shorts and a green or brown button-up shirt.
Anyone with information about Hein is asked to call 600-3111.
