Aspen Fire 3/4 under control, but smoke still is a problem

After overnight progress Sunday, firefighters, as of Monday had contained 75 percent of the wildfire known as the Aspen Fire burning in the Sierra National Forest.

Officials estimate the fire will be fully contained by Saturday.

More than 20,600 acres have burned, but no one has been injured and no structures have been damaged in the lightning-caused fire that began July 22.

More than 1,800 personnel from all over the Central Valley are battling the fire, which burns about seven miles north of Big Creek, about 50 miles northeast of Fresno...
