Artists from throughout the Central San Joaquin Valley, and some from the Pacific Coast, gathered in Madera for a special awards and recognition event put on by the Madera County Arts Council.
More than 200 people gathered outside the MCAC Circle Gallery Thursday evening for the reception for the winners in the council’s 19th annual “Celebrate Agriculture with the Arts” extravaganza. The 2012 exhibit, which began Thursday, will run through Nov. 17.
Margaret Diebert, hostess for the evening, had high praise for the artists, the arts council, and the generosity of the sponsors of the event. The winners in the different categories collectively received more than $5,000.
Diebert expressed appreciation to “our faithful artists, many who enter every year. She also gave kudos to “the many individuals, businesses, and agencies that support the programming of the Arts Council throughout the year, all toward the betterment of our community and our quality of life in the Central Valley.” ...
