Anonymous donor sponsors monthly library programs

A fter attending the San Francisco Shakespeare Festival’s performance of “Macbeth” at the Madera County Library last fall, an anonymous Maderan has offered to sponsor monthly family programs.

“We are so excited to be able to bring free quality live performances to our community,” said county librarian Ellen Mester. “The person initially offered a lump sum and when I started talking about the performers and what they would cost they just said it’s money that they had invested and they felt it was a good use of the investment — to invest in this community and family programs. They said ‘Go ahead and book it.’”

The programs will begin this month, starting with Randel McGee and Groark performing March 22.
