The heart of Madera will light up during a parade that shows off what helps work these lands: tractors and trucks. The farm machinery will be decorated with Christmas lights.

The 20th annual Candlelight Christmas Parade and Wine Stroll is set for Thursday from 5 to 8 p.m. Twelve downtown merchants are set to open their doors, put up specials and offer samples of wine, hot chocolate and apple cider to patrons.

Organized by the Madera Downtown Association and the Madera Kiwanis Club, the event will also feature the raffle of a $500 Downtown Shopping Spree. To be eligible, contestants must buy either a $6 mug or a wine glass for $10 for the wine stroll. They will then receive a map of all participating businesses. Patrons must visit each location to get it validated and then submit it.

The drawing will be at 7:45 p.m. in Pete’s Sport Shop, 124 S. C St., which is also a stop on the stroll. Participants do not have to be present during the drawing to win...
