Animals blessed at St. Joachim’s School

For St. Joachim’s Catholic School students Tanner Sagouspe, Bret Carrell and Nikole Montes, their animals are more than just pets — they are considered a part of the family.

Those extended family members along with other pets were blessed Thursday afternoon at St. Joachim’s Elementary School to commemorate St. Francis of Assisi’s passion for all living beings.

With a variety of animals in attendance, St. Joachim’s Church Rev. Sergio Perez conducted the ceremonial Blessing of Pets at the school that celebrates St. Francis’ feast day every Oct. 4.

For Sagouspe, it was a chance to get his long-time pet — a crested gecko named Big Foot — blessed before the two part ways...
