Alleged ‘career criminal,’ behind bars, sheriff says

An alleged metal thief accused of stealing tens of thousands of dollars in property was arrested in the Madera County foothills over the weekend, sheriff’s spokeswoman Erica Stuart said Tuesday.

Sean Michael Driscoll of Coarsegold, 37, was arrested Saturday night after he was caught stealing metal from private property along Highway 41 in Coarsegold, Stuart said.

Deputies believe his arrest will close at least 10 grand theft cases.

Stuart said Driscoll’s criminal activity dates back at least three years, where he’s accused of pilfering everything from heavy machinery to hand tools...
