In the 30th annual Regional Bobby Sox Softball AllStars Qualifier, both the Madera 18-under and 14-under teams earned the tournament championship in their home park.
Each team went 3-0 in the two-day double-elimination tourney at Lions Town and Country Park with the under- 18 team crushing Salinas, 19- 5, in the championship game Sunday while the under-14 team beat East Anaheim, 9-5, to claim the title.
Both Madera teams will play in the National Tournament of Champions held in Vacaville July 27-30.
“It was an awesome experience for our players to be in a tournament in their home town,” said Madera 18-under manager Carmen Diaz. “They were so excited and wanted to show their pride for Madera. They came out pumped up and ready for this tournament.” ...
