Air Guard begins Cities of Honor with jet for Madera

At their initial Cities of Honor program, the 144th Fighter Wing of the California Air National Guard dedicated the first of many F-15 Eagle jet fighters to the City of Madera at a Friday morning ceremony at its base at Fresno-Yosemite International Airport.

Madera is also the hometown of the 144th Fighter Wing’s commander, Col. Clay Garrison.

“We are a community-based organization and the Cities of Honor program forms a connection with the local communities where are airmen live and work,” said Garrison.

In the future more Valley cities will be honored. “It’s a way to thank the cities for all their support,” said Garrison...
