Agriculture is bright spot in California economy

Madera County, with more than $1.3 billion in agricultural sales, was among recordsetting California counties last year as Central California ag revenues burgeoned.

Jay Seslowe, Madera County assistant agricultural commissioner appeared before the Madera County Board of Supervisors Tuesday to report record sales during 2011 of many commodities.

The biggest sellers were familiar names, he said: Almonds, milk and grapes were the top three in the top 10.
