Madera student fighting illness since age 2 loses battle

Donations for funeral are still being accepted

A high school student and lifelong Madera resident who earned the respect, admiration and love of teachers and students alike has passed away. Madera South High School sophomore Eduardo Santiago, more commonly known as Eddie, died at 16 years old on Sunday in his home.

He was diagnosed with a tumor at 2 years old, which later became cancerous and spread throughout his body, according to his family.

They remember his courage and determination.

“Eduardo taught us to not complain for the little things, because even though he was in pain he never gave up in his fight to live,” said his cousin Clarita Cortes...

That information, which is indeed basic journalism, was included in the printed article. Most of the articles reprinted on this website are only short excerpts of those found in our printed newspaper.
