After-school students prepare for triathlon

Students in a county after school program will walk, jog, run, cycle and dance to promote healthy living and eating on Saturday.

The second annual Fit for Life Triathlon is set for 8:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Lions Town & Country Park. About 2,000 students enrolled in Madera County Office of Education’s Club YES program—which is in 28 school sites in Madera, Chowchilla and foothill communities — are set to participate with their families.

“The whole purpose of this event is to encourage students and their families to incorporate a healthy lifestyle in a fun and meaningful way,” said Lorie Werner, Club YES after school coordinator.
