600 visit local craft show; $2,000 raised for charities

Organizers of an annual fundraiser in its second year were pleased with the higher turnout and amount that will be used to help three local charities.

Catholic Daughters of the Americas St. Joachim Court #2553 hosted 60 artists and crafters in the free Spring Craft Show in Holy Spouses Hall on Saturday.

About 600 people visited throughout the day, said Norma Barnett, event chairwoman and secretary for CDA.

“We had a better turnout than we did last year,” said Barnett. “We really want to thank the community who supported us because, especially in this economy, we know people are struggling but yet they still give what they can.” ...
