Sheriff credits tip for capture

Authorities credited a local’s tip Monday in announcing the arrest of four Madera teenagers for residential burglary.

Matthew Golden Kent, 19, a 15-year-old boy, and two 14-year-old boys were taken into custody around 5:30 Sunday night, accused of breaking into several guest homes and the main residence inside a fenced complex on Heather Avenue in north Madera, according to sheriff’s department spokeswoman Erica Stuart.

Shortly after 5 p.m. Sunday, a citizen alerted the sheriff’s office to what appeared to be a possible burglary in progress. Four teenagers had jumped a fence. Some were seen milling around the compound, while others entered guest houses and the main home. All four then left.

Deputies were given a clear description of the suspects and the direction they were walking. Within just a few minutes, deputies found the quartet roughly a block away on Brightwood Road...
