FRESNO (AP) — A caregiver who left a 101-year-old man in a hot car last summer won’t be facing any more jail time.
A Fresno County judge said four days in jail after her August arrest was enough for 46-year-old Tina Ann Johnson of Auberry.
Johnson had pleaded no contest to a count of inflicting injury on an elderly person. During Wednesday’s hearing, the judge also reduced the crime to a misdemeanor and ruled Johnson will not be placed on probation.
The Fresno Bee said Raymond Messer was found inside a car in a Walmart parking lot in Clovis. Johnson was located inside the Walmart an hour after police arrived.
Messer was taken to a hospital for examination of heat-related injuries and he was released the same day.
