4 arrested for robbery, attempts

Reports of a robbery and two failed attempts in various parts of Madera on Friday evening led to the arrest of three young suspects this weekend.

“The three separate victims all reported that several subjects in a white Chevrolet Blazer approached them demanding money,” said Interim Sgt. Brian Esteves of the Madera Police Department. “One of the robbers would spray the victims with pepper spray to blind them as the others would attempt to steal valuables from the victims.”

Arrested were Andrew Almaguer, 18, Albert Trujillo, 20, Brian Banks, 23, and Steve Saunders, 24.

The trio were apprehended after officers reportedly observed a white Blazer in the 1200 block of Barcelona Way at 11 p.m. Friday. When the officers approached, Trujillo allegedly ran and was caught in the backyard of a home. Banks, Saunders and Almaguer were inside the truck...
