2nd pharmacy shooting suspect nabbed

A second suspect was arrested by Madera police a day after his alleged partner in crime was killed in the attempted robbery of a pharmacy in the 500 block of East Almond Avenue.

Detectives arrested 28-year-old Jonte Harris of Fresno at the home of a relative Wednesday night. Harris was found hiding out with a bullet wound in his leg, when taken into custody.

Police believe Harris also walked into the pharmacy Tuesday night about 6:30 as his associate, Aquilla Bailey, opened fire and tried to kill both the pharmacist and his mother as they were working late in the store.

Investigators believe the pair may have been seeking drugs or cash, or both, and thought the small store with barred windows next to the freeway was an easy target — as they entered through the back with ski masks on...
