Ties to multi-state drug ring alleged

A Madera County man was arrested on federal charges after a two-year investigation connected him to a multi-state drug trafficking ring, sheriff’s spokesperson Erica Stuart said Wednesday.

Lawrence Alexander Tidwell, 31, a convicted felon, was charged with marijuana cultivation, distribution, and felony possession of a firearm by agents from the Madera County Narcotics Enforcement Team (MADNET), Stuart said.

Tidwell’s arrest was made in conjunction with an investigation into organized crime and distribution of marijuana into the Southwest United States, Stuart said.

As such — and given Tidwell’s prosecution through the U.S. Attorney’s Office — MADNET could not disclose details about the location, date, or time of Tidwell’s arrest and booking...
