2 killed in SR99 rollover

A 20-year-old Chowchilla man and his 12-year-old sister were ejected and killed in a solo vehicle rollover crash on southbound State Route 99, just north of Avenue 18 1/2 according to the California Highway Patrol.

The two died about 5:40 a.m. Sunday as they reportedly were headed to work at the swap meet in Madera, according to CHP Sgt. Lincoln McKenna.

The Madera County Sheriff’s Department identified the pair Monday evening as Omar Chavez Garcia and Karina Chavez.

“Neither of the victims was wearing a seat belt... and both were ejected and landed in the southbound traffic lanes,” McKenna said...
