2 hurt in weekend shooting

Madera police are on the hunt for at least one suspect in a weekend shooting that left two victims with non-life-threatening injuries, Sgt. Matt Wiles said.

At 1:35 a.m. Sunday, Wiles said police responded to a call from the 200 block of South Lake Street when a citizen reported hearing gunshots in the area.

While that was in progress, the Madera Police dispatch center received a second call from the 800 block of E. 5th Street reporting two victims had suffered gunshot wounds.

The two victims — whose names, ages, and genders were not released by Monday night — were waiting for a taxi cab when they saw a black vehicle approaching them, Wiles said...
