Madera County Sheriff’s deputies have arrested two suspects in separate burglaries — one for a reported commercial break-in and the other on shoplifting charges.
John William Cotey, 29, of Oakhurst, is suspected of breaking into an Oakhurst business and stealing nearly $700 in cash, sets of keys and a Snickers bar.
Cotey was arrested Wednesday and charged with burglary, possession of stolen property, resisting arrest and parole violation. He was on parole for a drug conviction and is being held without bail.
Cynthia Lois Bush, 45, of Oakhurst, was arrested Wednesday after racing out of a grocery store with a shopping cart full of beer, sheriff’s spokeswoman Erica Stuart said. She was charged with burglary and is being held in lieu of $15,000 bail.
