Esteban Sandoval, Jr., 30, of Madera, was sentenced to a 15-year prison term late this week for felony kidnapping, domestic violence and violating probation on two other felony cases, according to county authorities Friday.
During his trial in Madera Superior Court this past August, the victim testified. She said she had previously dated Sandoval, and that in November of 2012 Sandoval became enraged when she received text messages from another friend as she and Sandoval were departing a friend’s house in a car. He grabbed her cell phone and threw it in her face, causing a 3-inch gash.
Sandoval then threatened to stab her with the car keys and told her he was going to kill her. When they arrived at Tozer Street and Yosemite Avenue, the victim fled from the car into a gas station. Sandoval dragged her out of the gas station and back into his car. He took her to his home against her will, telling her he was going to kill her.
The next day, the victim was able to convince Sandoval to let her leave. The victim called police, who tracked him down and arrested him...
