The California Department of Motor Vehicles conducted a statewide sweep for fraudulent disabled license plates and placards this week that resulted in 241 citations across the state and 43 in the Central Valley, a DMV spokesperson said.

DMV investigators across the state — all sworn law-enforcement officers with the power to make arrests — conducted the sting operation in 21 cities including Fresno, DMV spokesperson Artemio Armenta said.

Armenta said none of the citations were issued in Madera County but didn’t discount the possibility that Madera could be part of future sting operations that he wouldn’t disclose.

“These are routine operations conducted on a regular basis,” Armenta said. “We have hundreds of investigators who take part in these stings.” ...
