Central Valley Community Bank on Howard Road was filled to capacity this week when Maderans gathered to kick off efforts for the 2014 American Cancer Society’s Madera Relay For Life.

According to this year’s chairperson, Charlotte Brewer, nearly 100 attended the two-hour mixer sponsored and hosted by the bank and co-sponsored by the local Chamber of Commerce and the Relay For Life committee.

David Bond, the American Cancer Society’s staff partner for Madera’s relay, introduced Vicki Nino of Central Valley Community Bank, who related why she became involved with annual fundraiser. Chamber of Commerce president and CEO, Debi Bray, praised the community for its nearly two decades of support for the 24-hour event.

Also present were Mayor Pro Tem Derek Robinson, Sheriff John Anderson and Supervisor Rick Farinelli...
