‘Brave’ Merida makes ice debut in Valley

Disney on Ice show starts Wednesday

The Scottish, arrow-wielding princess Merida from Disney/Pixar’s “Brave” will make her debut on ice in the Valley this week in 10 performances of Disney on Ice presents Rockin’ Ever After.

Merida will be joined by “Tangled” star Rapunzel, “The Little Mermaid” Ariel, Belle from the Disney classic “Beauty and the Beast” and several characters from each movie for a musical production in Fresno’s Selland Arena.

“I’ve done four Disney on Ice shows and this is my favorite one so far,” said 29-year-old Nicola Trippick, an English ice skater who performs in the show’s ensemble. “It’s quite modern and new. There are more gymnastics to it.”
