Boys and Girls Club receives recycling grant

OAKHURST - The Boys and Girls Club of Oakhurst has received a $500 seed grant from Keep American Beautiful for paper recycling.

Boys and Girls Clubs across America submitted applications to start a paper recycling program or expand one already in place.

The grant will help fund the Torch Club program, a small-group leadership development program that targets children ages 11 to 13. Within the 1400 Torch Clubs across the country, members elect officers and plan and implement their own activities and community service projects.

Oakhurst's Torch Club meets Thursdays at 3:30 p.m. when school is in session.
