A former Miss Madera County will stand trial on charges of attempted murder, assault with a deadly weapon and domestic violence for allegedly stabbing her exfiancé five times and then trying to run him over with her car.

Leanne Ballard, 33, was arrested Sept. 4 after allegedly stabbing Robin Gallegos, 32, in the back, wrist, and head and then trying to run him over with a car when he ran from her behind the Lowe’s on Schnoor Avenue in Madera.

Gallegos took the stand Friday at the preliminary examination to testify and provide basis for the charges.

Ballard and Gallegos began their romance in November 2010 and lived together in west-central Madera for about nine months until Gallegos ended the relationship in early September 2011, he said...

If I read anymore lies to make Leanne Ballard look bad I am personally going to sue your propaganda newspaper!!! First you said she stabbed him 33 times, now it is five? You better get your lies straight before you print don't you think? Then you said it was her third child with her boyfriend? You need to print the truth once in a while. This is her first child with that playboy. Also she only stabbed him three times and he left the hospital that night!! And went jogging! Then he took a trip to Hawaii! Are you aware that she was also hurt by him and had to go to the hospital herself? Have you ever investigated him? Thought not! He has had numerous DUI's . I hear a real partier! This is the guy you reporters are building up??? Give me a break! Ya, the guy is a real saint! Did you know that Leanne volunteers at the missions? She has an animal rescue? And she teaches autistic children for fresno county for 7 years and they want her back ? She takes the animals to the Vet with her own money and never charges anyone a dime? Oh! But that wouldn't be exciting news would it so lets throw in some lies and spice it up! RETRACTMENT ON YOUR LIES or you will have the biggest law suit in your lap! Because of the whoopers you invented to tell about her the judge refuses to lower her bail from one million dollars! Is this how you people get your news? Make it up?

I only write exactly what I hear in court. Any of these facts that you call lies were either said by Ballard's attorney or the Deputy DA handling the case in court that day. I always write "Ballard's attorney said," or "the prosecutor said," or something to that effect so the reader knows who is making these statements. As a journalist I'd never make anything up. I'm printing exactly what goes on in the courtroom, no more and no less.

I feel the same way. Can't believe some of the misinformation that is printed as news. I know nothing about this story, but my family has been the focus of few articles in the past. Even had a family member loose their job because of the lies told. It is ridiculous really, when the truth is so readily available. Very unprofessional, I say sue them.

If she is such a wonderful person, why did she do such an evil thing...there is a side of her that needs fixing!

Leanne obviously isn't that lovely, is she! A bad past doesn't make a person bad forever. And, a 'lovely woman' apparently isn't always lovely!
