A 21-year-old Madera man was found guilty of second degree murder with gang enhancements in the shooting of an unarmed man after a fight at a birthday party in July 2008, District Attorney Michael Keitz said Tuesday.

The verdict was unsealed Tuesday morning after a month and half long process that included two separate jury trials, Keitz said.

The jury concluded that Juan Carlos Amezcua, then 17, intended to kill the victim, Victor Raqueno, after Raqueno expelled him and a fellow gang member from a party in the 2400 block of Davis Street.

A separate jury was unable to reach a verdict in the murder trial of his alleged accomplice, Eucario Avalos Ruiz, 29, but did find Ruiz guilty of criminal street gang activity in the murder of Raqueno...

Sure took long enough. I knew the trial had finally begun. Now the verdict is in. This punk deserves to be separated from decent society for a long, long time.

These allegations were false, there were no witnesses, and no murder weapon! Madera county is corrupt and needs to be investigated!

"Were" is the key word. The punk is now a convicted murderer. A felon at 21. On to the appeal process. Good luck with that. The "gang allegations" are the best they have in appeal. He is guilty of killing another human being. No doubt about that. No matter the reason.
