Feelings mixed over new child safety seat law

Children must ride in booster seat until 8 years old or 4’9”

A new law that went into effect at the beginning of the year mandates that children wait until either their 8th birthday or when they measure at least 4 feet, 9 inches to ride without a car or booster seat. And Maderans have mixed feelings about it.

The law previously required that a child be strapped in a car or booster seat until 6 years old or at least 60 pounds.

For some parents, the upped age and height requirement won’t be a problem, while others find it annoying.

Madera resident Janet Rodriguez said she was going to keep her daughter Abigail in a car seat awhile anyway...

i dont think it right to make a child ride in a booster seat until thay are 8 years old.i am not going to make my 7 year old ride in a booster seat or any other kid .i like the law we hade.the new cars have good seat belts fore kids and thay dont need a booster seat i got read off the booster seat i had and im not going to get a new one ca can take this law and shuve it i like the law we hade and that is the 1 im going to go by thanks . i know 1 thing we can all move out off california this state sucks
