The Madera County Cattlemen’s Association (MCCA) has announced that Michele Lasgoity will be the recipient of the 2012 Cattleman of the Year Award and that John Smith has been named Cowboy of the Year.
Nominated and elected by past honorees, the Cattleman of the Year award recognizes an individual who has contributed to and been an influence in the cattle industry in Madera County.
Lasgoity and Smith will be honored at the MCCA’s fall dinner starting at 6 p.m. on Friday, Nov. 2, at the Coarsegold Community Center on Hwy 41 in Coarsegold.
Lasgoity was born and reared in Madera, attended local schools and worked summers at her cousin’s grain-brokerage business. She earned a BSC at Santa Clara University followed by an MBA degree in finance...
