City police go on high alert for gangs

All Madera police units have been placed on heightened alert to patrol city streets for gang activity in the wake of recent gang violence, including a murder Wednesday.

The gang sweeps will continue as long as necessary, police said.

All available officers have been stopping and identifying any individuals displaying gang colors, or who appear to be involved in gang activities.

The Wednesday murder of 16-year-old Jesus (Jesse) Espinoza, who was shot four times in the stomach, allegedly by another teenager, and died of his wounds, raised awareness of increased gang activity in the city. Police believe Espinoza was shot as the result of a gang-affiliation dispute as he walked with a friend on Madera Avenue near the Carl’s Jr. restaurant near the State Route 99 intersection...

You have to hope and pray this wake-up call for the gang-bangers.They have to find a REAL job and proper training before they end up in PEN and costing the tax payers $35,000 a year too baby- sit them.

it wont be a wake up call for these guys. it will be retaliation for the murder. and the cycle will continue..unfortunately
