Community members hoping to promote bicycling and fitness in Madera have organized a family bike ride scheduled for Saturday at Rotary Park.
“Bicycle riding is green transportation, is free, is good mental and physical exercise, and is a great activity for people who are stressed out, are unemployed and have lots of free time,” said Peggy Gregory, a Sunrise Rotary member and recreation therapist who organized the event.
The ride will start at 9 a.m. near the skate park at Rotary Park and will follow the River Trail until the turn-around point at Westberry Boulevard.
Boy Scout Troop 116 will set up a water and aid station at the turn-around point. The entire ride will be four miles, but those who can’t make the distance can turn around at Schnoor Avenue on the River Trail for a one-mile ride, Gregory said...
