Wow, what a weekend in store for us Maderans. That is, if the clouds decide not to open. Not that we don’t need the rain. But let’s move forward.
So many thing are happening, this meager scribe will undoubtedly forget to mention something. However, we can start off with the silver anniversary (that’s halfway to golden) of the Jesse Owens Games for the kids of Madera. The kickoff takes place tomorrow at McNally Park, and don’t be afraid to cross the tracks. We’re all Maderans and need to stick together. Council member Gary Svanda will be there, and a special tribute to his late colleague, Sam Armentrout will be presented by games’ director Donald Holley.

All for the kids. Weather permitting, the annual —okay, the heck with political correctness, I’ll say it again, “Easter” egg hunt will be held at Lions Town & Country Park. If it’s not wet, hundreds of kids will gather up thousands of eggs in a little over three minutes.
Over the years I’ve watched this organized chaos and it is a shame that parents get involved. I have seen them running out with garbage bags, pushing youngsters aside, only to leave children crying with an empty basket. Shame on those aforementioned. It is, after all, for the little ones...
