Those partying parade people, the Madera Kiwanis Club, will be at it again tomorrow night as they present the annual downtown Lighted Christmas Parade and Wine Stroll. There are at least a dozen locations that will offer wine tasting, so sip lightly and don’t get lit, my friends. You might miss watching Yosemite Avenue light up with everything from tractors to tow trucks.

Even more vino. This Saturday from noon to four you can partake of the Madera Wine Trail’s Showcase Day with “A Sip of Syrah.” In all there are five fine wineries offering Syrah: Birdstone, Fasi Estate, Idle Hour, Papagni, and Quady. I once dated a girl named Syrah. Wait, maybe that was Sarah. Well, I can’t remember everything from the Sixties.

After sipping lightly in the afternoon, take a break, or a nap, before heading over to that whooping good-time shindig, the Sunrise Rotary Club’s Trees for Charity auction dinner and dance at Hatfield Hall. This year’s “Cowboy Christmas” (“Yee Haw!”) is the 27th annual and starts with social hour (that’s cocktails) at 5:30, followed by a terrific dinner. As always, the proceeds benefit local charities.

“For Your Eyes Only.” In this case, not the 1981 James Bond film starring Roger Moore, but The Tribune’s own front office gal, Alexandra, best known as “Alex.” Already possessed with lovely, enigmatic eyes fitting a Bond girl, she now sports a unique eye liner morning, noon and night. Or is it eye shadow? I forget. But James Bond would give her a wink anytime of day...
