Rodney Terry must feel like he found someone else’s Lottery ticket lying on the ground in front of a liquor store. The second-year Fresno State men’s basketball coach knew it wasn’t his. But he has been needing some luck after a 13- 20 season, so he decided to play it.
And he hit the motherlode.
After rubbing off the numbers, he cashed in the ticket. The prize was highly-coveted high school center Robert Upshaw, who had originally committed to Kansas State.
The ticket had originally been purchased in Manhattan, Kan. But following a tornado that hit the K-State basketball program in which coach Frank Martin abruptly left to take over the South Carolina program, the ticket wound up in Terry’s hands...
