The World Cup has soccer fans delighted with the television coverage of the games. I’m lucky my husband is not a fan of European football. Not one single game will be polluting the televisions at my house.

I feel the exact same way about Major League Baseball. Since he is not a baseball fan, I don’t have to put up with their games either.

I understand why men enjoy watching sports on TV. Guys will watch anything with a ball involved. Most of them played sports as children and maybe dreamed of being a professional ball player one day. Thanks to satellite dishes and cable boxes there are always games on somewhere.

What I don’t understand is the passion that some of my women friends have for televised sports, especially baseball. Thanks to Facebook it is easy to create whole fan pages for teams and players...
