Whether you are planning a picnic, backyard barbecue or a camp-out this summer, it comes in handy to have foods that can be made ahead of time, are easy to store and/or travel with and can be eaten with one’s hands. Oh, and something that is popular with just about everyone.

What comes to mind is the very popular and delicious cereal treats (think toasted Os, graham-cracker flavored cereal and crispy rice). There are several variations, some with peanut butter, chocolate, dried fruit or anything else you think sounds good to throw into the mix. Most recipes call for marshmallows or marshmallow creme.

I know there are people who do not eat sweets for various reasons, but most folks really love snack squares made from crispy cereal and those yummy marshmallows. The kids and grandkids will certainly love them, but make sure you have plenty of hand and face wipes.
