On Thursday, Golden Valley Unified School District (GVUSD) students will be given a unique opportunity to assist Children’s Hospital, Central California in a disaster drill called Fall EX, where hospital staff is able to practice dealing with an outbreak of a food-borne illness.

More than 60 GVUSD students will be bused to the hospital where they will be split into groups and admitted as patients for a few hours. Members of the hospital crew will treat their symptoms and then students will have the opportunity to give feedback and take a survey. Based off of the survey results, hospital members can address issues that seem to come up throughout the drill.

Canned food drive

Thanksgiving is coming up next week giving Liberty High School students and staff a much needed holiday break. In order to help others in their community, Associated Student Body has organized a canned food drive, which ends this Friday. All non-perishable items will be donated to the Ronald McDonald House.

The winner of the canned food drive will be announced at the annual “Battle for the Turkey” rally, informally known as battle of the sexes. Boys and girls will dress in blue and pink and compete in fun games in order to win the coveted turkey. The boys won last year so this year the ladies are hoping to pull out a win...
