Senior stroll or fun over 50. This scribe is old enough (barely) to remember my gal and I doing “the Stroll” (by the Diamonds) at high school dances, the Rainbow Ballroom and a few other venues. However, there is a another stroll for those 50 and over happening every Tuesday starting at the horseshoe courts at the south end of Rotary Park on Gateway Drive.

Folks are gathering at 8 a.m. to take a leisurely walk along the River Trail for about a half-hour or so. Everyone goes at their own pace, which is why the group is called the River Trail Strollers. When I get up to it I may even give it a try and take Racer, the dog, and maybe my gal. But, they must be friendly and on a leash. Racer, and pet dogs, I mean.

Yesterday, I espied an ad in the paper about devising a plan to improve Madera County. In large letters it was titled Plan 2040. I remember being involved in a Madera city plan years ago called Vision Madera 2025. At least I think it was that year.

I hope the many city leader, and civic minded folks who got involved in the project haven’t forgotten all the wonderful ideas brought forth and approved at those meetings. Or maybe they meant “In the Year 2525.” No, that was a song by the duo of Zagar and Evans in 1969. Confused? Me too...
