State of thanks

But first, if any of the many Giants fans attend a game at AT&T Park please let me know whether the Barry Bonds plaque marking his 756th homer that was on the leftfield wall has been replaced. Don’t know if it was a Dodger fan, or Braves fan of Hank Aaron (755 homers) but the glued on (?) plaque went missing a couple weeks ago. Just a thought, but maybe if they would have put an asterisk with it (756*) maybe no one would have bothered to swipe it.

Gallup, the poll people, recently released their findings on which states are the most stressed-out states, and the least stressed-out states. California was not listed in the top five of either. We were also not listed in the states that provided the most enjoyment or the least enjoyment. Readers have said I live in the state of confusion, but just thought you would like to know, according to Gallup, we’re just average.

Construction — destruction. Why has construction suddenly stopped at the northwest corner of Pine and Howard, while across the street at the site of the old Monty’s it is gung-ho as the walls came tumbling down in a day? Those construction crews looked like ants after a late night party when I left out a bedtime cookie.

But in the frame and plywood shell to the north, there hasn’t been a nail driven in the building for weeks. It is supposed to be the new home to Subway and a convenience store. Meanwhile, the old Monty’s is gone and the CVS establishment may be up and running before we can say “give me a cold cut combo submarine sandwich.” ...
