Stanford has many traditions I have grown to love. Last quarter, there were the rituals of the Big Game, my favorite of which included burning Cal’s mascot, Oski the Bear, at the stake.

During finals week, students release stress by participating in Primal Scream — which, you guessed it, involved every person on campus screaming when the clock strikes midnight.

And whenever anyone has a birthday, the entire dorm quite literally “showers” her with love — by throwing her under an icy cold stream of water. (Most people show affection by buying their friends birthday gifts. We Stanford students prefer to cause them great physical discomfort.).
