Congratulations to Wendi Salpa-Hernandez and Natalie Rios who tied for first place in the speech contest identifying a problem that they felt needed to be addressed by government. The winning idea would then be turned into a piece of state legislation backed by Sen. Anthony Cannella, R-12th District.
These two students chose to address “Safe Routes to Schools.” Both students will travel to Sacramento to introduce the piece of legislation for vote, spend the day with the senator (including lunch), and receive California state flags that have been flown over the capital building.
We also want to congratulate five of our Stallion guitar students who earned a superior rating (the highest achievable) at Saturday’s solo/ensemble festival. The winning guitarists Ruben Garza, Yesenia Madrigal, Edward English, Fernando Brahms and Alex Leon will go to the state solo/ensemble festival at California State University, Sacramento, on May 9 and 10.
