Yes, we’re finished with the fair and over Old Timers’ Day, and now it’s time for us to love to Love Madera. Tomorrow, all over town, volunteers will do their best to help with community betterment activities.

If you want to make new friends, have some fun and help; be at Courthouse Park a little before 9 a.m. Saturday. You don’t have to belong to a service club, group, church or anything, just have the desire, and a little dedication, to make the town we all call home a little better for all of us.

Later that day at the same Courthouse Park, the Madera Breakfast Lions will host their annual Brewfest from 1 to 5. It’s a good way to wet your whistle (my critics are not going to like that cliché), and wind down after the morning efforts.

There are many micro-breweries lined up to give you a sample of the finest from ales, to stouts to lights, and there will be food and entertainment too. It’s all to raise funds for our youth and the aforementioned community betterment. And the fun continues later that day with Madera Glass and Body’s annual car show at the north end of E Street...
