Looks like it will be a fine weekend for the Pomegranate Festival at the north end of Madera Municipal Airport. We are already “on the map,” so to speak, as this annual event grows in size and popularity.

On our last trip to the Bay Area, when I mentioned I was from Madera, a gentleman with a lady friend said, “We are going to have to get down there for that pomegranate thing. It sounds like fun.”

Last Saturday night my gal and I were disappointed we could not attend the Rotary Club’s annual Halloween Ball. From all accounts it was terrific time. Oh, I guess we could have gone. She as a very realistic hospital patient, gown and all, tied in the back of course, and yours truly as a not-so-experienced doctor.

More fun. On Halloween, despite the fact that the last few weeks I have had my fill of hospital atmosphere, I had the honor (?), along with Margaret Diebert and Jim Monreal, of judging the pumpkin-decorating contest at Madera Community Hospital. It was a lot of fun, and the competition was, shall we say, stiff...
