Last week a story appeared in the Tribune concerning the Rotary District Governor’s (DG) visit to the Sunrise Rotary Club. As many of you know, Madera is lucky to have not one, but two hardworking Rotary Clubs and the DG was also treated to a fine time in our fair city by the Rotarians that meet at noon.

Ren Hallett, current president of the Madera Rotary Club, and valued member Diana Barden informed yours truly of the happenings when they hosted the governor. There was a mini-car show, an appearance by Miss Madera County Molly Gilbert, and even Dave Gilbert owner of Madera Parachute Center skydiving to a landing on the golf course to deliver the Rotary banner.

Time to get down at a hoedown. That smiling girl behind the bar at the Elks Lodge Rebecca “Becka” Spence, tells this one time dancing fool there will be a good ol’ fashion Western Hoedown at the Lodge (112 W. Sixth St.) this Friday night.

Put on your cowboy hat, shirt and duds or just come as you are and come on down for a good time. It’s only $10 for food and music, but leave your spurs at home. The Elks have a really nice dance floor...
