This week the California High-Speed Rail continued to bluster about plans to begin construction of the bullet train this year. This in spite of the fact they have yet to purchase any land to lay down the track.
Where do the people in power think their food will be grown when they put the farmers out of business? Our farmers are a precious breed of humanity. Burdening them with an enormous train running through their farms is unthinkable.
Imagine that same train running through the city of Madera. It could wipe out a wide swath through downtown Madera.
Gov. Jerry Brown wants to see his name on whatever plaque is mounted commemorating the HSR. He believes it would be a monumental feather in his cap to have the first high-speed rail service in his state. The plaque would likely feature President Obama’s name, which is how these government projects work...
