I’m not sure what motivated Madera Unified Superintendent Gustavo Balderas to offer up Madera High School facilities for use by the public, but is was a bad move.

Balderas initiated this joint effort with the City of Madera and Mayor Brett Frazier to allow anyone to walk onto the $500,000 all-weather track and the million-dollar synthetic turf football surface in the name of “promoting wellness in our community.”

I have yet to see any comment from Frazier, but I can only imagine what his response was:

“Really? We can tell everyone they can have free access and the city has to assume no financial responsibility or risks? Let me think about it. OK.” ...
